Reinout Vente, Relationship Director - Specialist Asset Finance

Where did you come from?
I joined ABN AMRO straight after finishing university, having just returned from the US where I wrote my Master thesis and did a six week road trip around the West Coast with a friend.

What is your role here at ABN AMRO?
I am a Relationship Director in the Specialist Asset Finance team where I am responsible for growing our client base by writing predominantly large ticket asset finance transactions. They all differ in nature but what these transactions do have in common is that they are not plain vanilla deals. The weird and wonderful deals, so to speak, which are always interesting because of the type of assets, non-standard documentation and/or non-standard route to market. In recent years, I have further developed our container, marine and offshore renewable capabilities. Never a dull moment!

What’s the biggest value-add your role brings to clients?
I put the customer first in everything I do and try to come up with innovative funding solutions to develop deal structures that work for both us and our clients.

Who do you mainly interact with?
There is an element of internal relationships and deal management, but I try and spend as much time as possible with clients, introducers, industry specialists, etc., to stay in touch with the markets and our client base. Apart from that, we have a great vibe within the team and there is always some good banter going around..!

What do you enjoy most about your role?
I very much enjoy the large variety of customers, asset types and funding structures that go through my hands and am really proud about some of the deals I have managed to get over the line – I like myself a bit of a challenge!

Where do you live?
I live in Highbury, North London with my other half Dorien, which is only a 15min bike ride to the office in the City!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time is mostly spent venturing through London, watching rugby, or on the road bike as I am in full training mode for our team cycling trip to the Alps in July.

What is your favourite film?
That’s going to be a very close call between Legends of the Fall, Drive and the good old Shawshank… Drive it is!

What is your favourite kind of meal?
Pasta! It doesn’t matter if its dried or fresh, whether it is gnocchi, ravioli, spaghetti, linguini or fusilli, with white sauce, red sauce or just garlic and olive oil… I love it!

What was your earliest ambition?
Apart from wanting to make it to the Dutch National Rugby team, I have always wanted to live and work abroad for a decent amount of time.
